Different Types of Weight Loss Supplements

Many individuals would like to lose weight for any number of reasons, including appealing to the opposite gender, boosting one’s self-esteem, or even health reasons.

Today, there is a number of different kinds of diets and weight loss supplements (or diet pills) available on the market, so the task of selecting one that will work best for you can be somewhat daunting.

Weight loss supplements can be classified into categories: carbohydrate blockers, appetite suppressant, cortisol blockers, and fat reduction supplements.

The carb blocker is still fairly popular.
A few years ago, the carb diet was all the rage; people though carbohydrates were unhealthy and not good for the diet, so by taking a carb blocker, one could theoretically eat more carbs while gaining less weight.

Fat loss supplements are designed to burn fat within the body, by a process known as thermogenesis.

A supplement that is designed to induce thermogenesis will cause an individual’s internal temperature to rise, thus burning body fat.

Cortisol is an component that is naturally produced within the body and is attributed as a major cause of belly fat.
Cortisol tends to increase when stressed, leading to a rise in fat cells, particularly in the stomach.

A weight loss supplement that is classified as a cortisol blocker works to help fend off and prevent cortisol production in the body.

Perhaps one of the most popular types of diet pills on the market is an appetite suppressant. Such a weight loss supplement [http://www.dynakorpharmacal.com/] is designed to curb hunger, making one feel full while eating less.

Be sure you research any weight loss supplements before you take them.
They should be used in conjunction with proper diet and exercise, two other ways you can lose weight effectively. Make sure to carefully read the label and follow directions properly. Doing so will enable you to maximize your weight loss.

Weight Loss Motivation - What Is Yours?

When it comes to losing weight it seems like the only way you are successful is if you have some powerful weight loss motivation. Just kind of wanting to lose weight doesn't seem to get the job done.
Motivation can come in many different forms but let's take a look at three of the main weight loss motivations we run into.
The first weight loss motivation is a particular event. People often try to lose some weight before their wedding or a high school reunion.
There are many different programs on the market that will help get you to your ideal weight for a particular event as long as the amount of weight you want to lose is reasonable for the amount of time you have to lose that weight. These products and your attitude may not be a great combination for long-term success.

If your focus was on the event then your motivation to stay that size might be gone with the passing of time.

The second weight loss motivation people have is to get their loved ones off of their back.
Whether your husband doesn't like your post-pregnancy body or your children are telling you that you are too unhealthy, you are trying to lose weight to make other people happy.

Sometimes when your motivation is to please others, you actually lose weight and are happy with the results. Most of the time; however, you lose weight until they quit talking about it and then the weight comes back on.

The final weight loss motivation is self-motivation. You want to lose weight to please only yourself. If someone else is happy about it, that is just a bonus.
Maybe you realize how unhealthy being overweight is and you don't want to burden your family with the cost of being overweight.

Maybe you are looking at health concerns that you would rather not deal with and weighing less is the answer. It might even be that you are just ready to be a smaller size.

Whatever your personal reason is for wanting to lose weight, it is the only true weight loss motivation that will keep you on track for long-term weight management.

Once you have had an issue with your weight, it will most likely always be a problem. That doesn't mean that you will always be overweight or have your weight yo-yo. What it does mean is that your weight loss motivation will have to become motivation to remain in a certain weight range.

The scale will always be part of your bathroom décor and you will need to visit it regularly to keep yourself from gaining too much weight and ending up where you started. It really requires a lifestyle change instead of diet products.
If you are ready to make a change in your life you can seek out the right plan for you and since you have the right weight loss motivation you will be successful.

Homemade Weight Loss Shakes Recipes

Many people use meal replacement shakes for losing weight.

Unfortunately these shakes tend to be quite expensive. Luckily there are some homemade weight loss shakes recipes that you can use to make your own shakes which will help you save a ton of money.

One of the main reasons homemade weight loss shakes are so effective for losing weight, is because they don't require a lot of effort...all it takes is a blender, the right ingredients and some ice and you are ready to get back in shape.
If you are looking for best results you'll want to use these as replacement meal shakes.

Homemade weight loss shakes are easy to make because you don't need to cook things. Just throw fruits and veggies in the blender and in less than a minute you'll have your drink.

If you want to make homemade weight loss shakes, there are some easy steps that you can follow to make it happen. First things first, you'll need to decide what kind of shake you actually want to make.

If you care about taste, you'll want to stick to fruit based homemade weight loss shakes. But if you want better results, you'll want to make a vegetable based shake since they won't have as many sugars.

The best homemade weight loss shakes recipes are those that use mostly vegetable ingredients with a bit of fruit thrown in to enhance the taste. This way you get the full effect of the vegetable shake, without sacrificing taste.

After you decide on what type of homemade weight loss shake you want to make, simply dice up that fruit and/or vegetable, and place everything in the blender.

Add low fat milk or yogurt for calcium and vitamin D...or if you are lactose intolerant you can make a soy protein shake. Then just press the start button and voila...you are ready to lose weight.

If you drink these homemade weight loss shakes every day, you can expect to lose about 1 pound a week. It doesn't sound like a lot but you need to think long term.

That 1 pound a week comes out to 4 pounds a month which adds up to a total of 48 pounds a year.

Which is a serious number. This isn't a number solely for the homemade weight loss shakes...you'll get the same results from the expensive shakes that you buy from the store too.

However, if you feel like that's too little for all that effort and are looking for slightly faster results, you'll want to start a proper weight loss program.
That's the only way you'll get the fast results that you are looking for.
If you are really serious about losing weight, you'll want to start the Action Weight Loss program.

One of the main reasons that program is so effective in making you lose weight is because it uses custom diet/exercise plans designed for someone with your exact height and weight.

This means that everything you do on the program is designed for getting you the best possible results that your body is capable of.
Thanks to this approach, you end up getting much faster results and with less effort...since you no longer waste 95% of your efforts(like you do with other programs) on things that can't work for your specific body type.

Effectively losing weight needs a change in eating habits and activity level. By picking the right diet program, you can lose weight fast and healthy...and keep the weight off.

Finding the Best Diet Program
With so much information and different weight loss programs available, it can be difficult to make the right choice when selecting a diet program.
The best way to begin your search is to ask your friends, family, or others that you trust.
You can also do research on trusted weight loss informational sites.

Here are some questions to ask: How hard is the program? How much is it going to cost? What are the restrictions? How much time is going to take? What type of weight loss techniques are being used (fast weight loss, natural weight loss etc.)?

Choosing a Healthy Diet program
  1. Know how much the program is going to cost you and any additional expenses that are involved. Some diets expect you to buy special foods or supplements, so make sure you know this in advance.
  2. Discover the qualifications of the person who created or operates the program. Know the training, certificates, and experience of the expert(s) involved.
  3. Lean the success of the program and how long the diet program has been around. If there are testimonials available, testomonials can be helpful.
  4. Check to see if there is additional help with the program like counseling, mentoring, or peer help.
  5. Research if there are any health care providers that are associated or work with the diet program.
  6. Since exercising is essential to any successful weight loss program, check to see what type of exercises are being used. Ideally, you would like to see a good mixture of cardio and strength training exercises.
  7. Know about how long the program will take for you to reach your dieting goals.
There are many diet plans available and conducting some research will assist you in choosing the one that is vest for you. Just ask the smart questions and join the one you feel you can succeed at.

Losing weight is not always going to be easy, but losing weight fast and healthy is possible.

Are You Losing Sleep and Gaining Weight?

Sleep services all aspects of our bodies in one way or another: molecular, energy balance, as well as intellectual function, alertness and mood. There is not a single tissue in the body that is not beneficially affected by sleep. It's the single most effective we can do every day to reset the health of our brains and bodies. Sleep helps us to think more clearly, have quicker reflexes and focus better. When we're tired, we just can't function at our best. The fact is, well-rested people operate at a different level than people trying to get by on 1 or 2 hours less nightly sleep.

A study done a few years ago by Dr.
Qian Xiao, Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics, National Cancer Institute in Maryland, found that the less sleep men and women got the more weight they gained.

Those who slept for six hours or less per night gained more weight than those who slept seven to eight hours.
Even more alarming was what happened to the normal-weight men and women who reported sleeping less than five hours each night:
They were 30% more likely to gain 11 pounds or more compared with those who slept seven to eight hours and about 40% more likely to become obese during follow-up.

The findings are particularly powerful because the Dr. Xiao and his team followed patients' weight gain over a 7-1/2 year period and because of the large size and diversity of the study population.

The association between lack of sleep and weight gain was consistent no matter what the subject's age, educational level, smoking status, BMI, and physical activity level. With more than 80,000 people in the study, it's more than likely that the sleep deprivation/weight gain connection exists for just about everyone.

So, how is sleep connected to weight gain?

People who don't get enough sleep (7 at least, 8 or 9 is better) are more likely to be hungry because the body needs more energy to stay awake. And, not only do sleepy eaters tend to consume more than enough to compensate, which leads to weight gain, but a sleepy brain responds more strongly to junk food and has less ability to rein that impulse in.

The main cause behind lack of sleep and weight gain is not being sleep derived itself, but the product of what happens to your metabolism when you are not getting enough sleep.
Inadequate amounts of sleep affects the part of your brain that controls your appetite and pleasure eating. Too little sleep:

  1. Decreases levels of the hormone Leptin, which signals the brain that you are full.
  2. Increases levels of the hormone Ghrelin, which stimulates your hunger while also slowing the rate at which calories are burned and increasing the amount of fat you store.
This means you will feel more of an urge to eat and less satisfied when you do. In other words, you need to control Leptin and Ghrelin to successfully lose weight, but sleep deprivation makes that nearly impossible.

So, the main cause behind lack of sleep and weight gain is not being sleep derived itself, but the product of what happens to your metabolism when you are not getting enough sleep.

More Ghrelin + less Leptin = weight gain.
Just as binge-eating after too many hours of starving yourself doesn't work, going on a sleeping binge is not going to help your body recover from pulling an all-nighter or from consistent lack of sleep.

And not getting enough sleep doesn't just make you tired... it also makes you fat.

Adequate sleep should be an important part of your weight loss (and maintenance) plan.

Healthy Obesity Is Seriously Funny

The term 'healthy obesity' has gained some traction over the last several years, and I need to put that oxymoron to rest.

When I hear it, I always ask, "What does that mean?... that you haven't had a stroke or heart attack yet?... that the ticking time bomb hasn't gone off yet?

Just as "I'm not really that overweight, I'm big-boned" is b.s., so is being obese and healthy.

The idea of 'healthy obesity' is a misleading concept in that obese people become progressively, and oftentimes aggressively, less healthy over time.
  • It is not healthy to have organs enveloped and marinating 24/7 in visceral fat, which produces hormones and sponges up toxins, which leads to chronic inflammation.
  • It is not healthy to have thick subcutaneous fat soaking up Vitamin D from sunlight, preventing it from getting to your bones, resulting in density loss.
  • It is not healthy to have excessive fat promoting the over-stimulation of insulin as your body becomes more resistant to it.
  • It is not healthy to have excess fat take up residence in your throat, shrinking your airway while you breathe and sleep, causing snoring, sleep apnea and intubation difficulties should you ever need anesthesia.
  • It is not healthy to have excess fat affect the digestive process, resulting in acid reflux which over time can cause the cells in the esophagus to change.
  • It is not healthy to have your skeleton carry around all that fat or to crush your feet.
  • It is not healthy to have all that fat putting you at enormous risk for developing 13 types of cancer: breast, colon, esophagus, gall bladder, kidney, liver, meningioma (brain), multiple myeloma (blood), ovary, pancreas, stomach, thyroid and uterus.
I could give you so many more examples of how obesity is not healthy but, instead, I'll ask you this question: Is there anything about this photo(1) of visceral fat that looks healthy to you?

To say you're healthy when you're obese because you haven't experienced any major medical issues yet... is like saying you're healthy when you smoke two packs a day because you don't show signs of pulmonary disease or lung cancer yet.

If a person is obese and doesn't care; if they like being obese, if they don't want to make a change, if life is honky-dory for them the way it is, that's cool. Live and let live.
A person can be obese and happy.
They can be successful. They can be educated.
They can be rich. They can be powerful. But healthy? Not a chance.
When it comes to health, nothing good EVER comes from being obese, and the words 'healthy' and 'obesity' should NEVER be paired together.

Fasting Can Break the Food Cravings Habit

The modern custom of eating three meals per day with a regular snack in between differs a lot from the way that ancient peoples lived for thousands of years.

The hunter-gatherer lifestyle meant that people were constantly adjusting from feasting to starvation mode as their food supply allowed.
For them, it was not an option but that lifestyle has affected processes in our bodies that are helpful for weight loss and for strengthening the immune system.

The health benefits attributed to fasting are numerous including reduced cardiovascular disease, lower risk of cancer, disease resistance, weight loss and recovery from stress.

That last one is one of the main reasons that fasting works. Our bodies are designed to repair genes, cells tissues and nerves after stress, which may be physical or emotional anxiety.

Frequent intake of food slows down our body's repair cycle as it works to process the food instead. If the food is nutrient-rich rather than sugar-rich, we still benefit from this.

If, however, your lunch was a pizza and you followed it up with a chocolate covered candy bar at 3:00 PM, your body will be too busy producing and fighting the insulin rush to have any time to repair the damage
.
Taking short breaks from food helps your body to use fat as a source of energy, instead of relying on the insulin producing sugars in so many packaged foods.

Insulin also stimulates production of hormones in the body that make you feel hungry. Keeping insulin levels low normalizes these hormones.

Fasting also stimulates the body to increase human growth hormone production, which is essential for weight loss and to keep you looking younger.

Looking younger, healthier skin and cardiovascular systems occurs because the body gets better control over oxidative stress, which is stimulated by excess glucose. Your brain benefits by this process too.

When your body consumes fat, your brain uses the released ketones to support healthy neuron generation.
This keeps your brain healthy and reduces the risk of Alzheimer's and other mental disorders.

A few concerns about overdoing it are worth noting. If you feel strong food cravings at the end of a fasting period, resist the urge to overeat during that first meal.

Keep the meal small and loaded with vegetables and healthy sources of proteins and essential fatty acids, like Omega-3 and the cravings will disappear quickly.
Some people report that their sleep is disturbed while fasting. Sleep deprivation can lead to a variety of health issues so please slow down on the fasting if you experience this.

Extended fasting periods longer than a day or so can result in a lack of important nutrients that support a healthy body and prevent inflammation.

One consequence of being starved for nutrition is that the body will not only turn to fat for energy, it will also break down muscle tissue. Start slow and be prepared to back off at any sign of discomfort.

If you have not been on a calorie-restricting plan or fasting program of any sort before, then the best way to start is to take small steps. Try skipping breakfast one day per week at first and then add another day if you seem to manage that without any problems.

Slowly increase the number of days and meals that you skip eating. You may work your way all the way up to alternating entire days of fasting, but don't rush into this.

A good mode to maintain is to skip breakfast several days per week and to keep your eating to within an eight-to-ten-hour timeframe on the fasting days. You will find that the food craving quickly fades away and you don't need as much food with each meal to feel full.

10 Anti Aging Benefits of Water

We all know that water is an extremely important nutrient for survival.
But besides keeping us alive or just quenching our thirst, it can do a number of things in our bodies to keep us healthy and to help fight the aging process.

Many experts say the average person should drink about 64 ounces of water per day. Other experts say you should drink 1/2 ounce for every 1 pound of body weight to account for all the water loss through the consumption of coffee, alcohol etc.

Regardless of the number you use, the sad truth is most of us do not consume nearly enough water throughout the day to really reap the tremendous benefits that clean, fresh water can give us.

Here are ten anti-aging benefits of water:

1) Feeds and cleans the cells
Water makes up more than 60 percent of our body weight, and without enough water, other nutrients in the form of food or supplement will have a hard time being assimilated quickly and efficiently. Water moves in and out of the cells on a constant basis.

This process helps dissolve nutrients and carries them where they need to go and it carries waste out of the body. Water also feeds your cells to you give you the energy you need.
Before grabbing that next cup of coffee or expensive "energy drink" try downing a big glass of water instead.

2) Improves the digestive process
Water works much like oil does in a machine; it keeps us running smooth. Without it, our digestive processes tend to slow down and get sluggish. This can cause a digestive "backup" or in other words, constipation.

3) Maintains an even body temperature.
Whether it is extreme heat or extreme cold, water is a crucial element to helping your body temperature stay out of the danger zone.
In extreme heat, our bodies sweat, causing a loss of a lot of water. Not only will water help keep your body temperature from over-heating, causing heat stroke, it will also help prevent serious dehydration. In cold weather, hypothermia is just as serious as heat stroke. Nurses in an Alaskan Hospital have said that dehydration is the number one cause of frostbite.

4) Helps the body heal after sickness, injury or surgery
The body will tend to retain water to help itself heal. By drinking lots of extra water, this process will be amplified. Water will also help flush viruses and infections out of the body.

5) Lubricates and cushions the joints
Water molecules don't like to be crowded too close together. Because of this, water molecules will spread out, forming a cushion that helps lubricate the joints. Sufferers of diseases like arthritis and gout can really feel the benefit of an abundance of water in their diet. Besides cushioning the joints, water also acts
Water molecules don't like to be crowded too close together.
Because of this, water molecules will spread out, forming a cushion that helps lubricate the joints. Sufferers of diseases like arthritis and gout can really feel the benefit of an abundance of water in their diet. Besides cushioning the joints, water also acts as a shock absorber inside the eyes and within the spinal cord.

6) Makes Your Skin Soft And Smooth
Water is very important for skin to be soft and smooth. Without enough water, the skin will more easily wrinkle and dry out. Water makes the skin more elastic. However, too much of a good thing can be a bit harmful as well. Soaking in a hot bath or hot tub for too long will strip the natural oils out of the skin. These oils are what helps keep the moisture in. Spraying your face with a little water is great for a little pick me up. Using a humidifier in dryer climates is very beneficial for the skin as well.

7) Helps Halt Kidney and Gallstone Formation
Water helps flush waste and impurities from the body. Enough water circulating through the body should be enough to help combat the formation of kidney and gall stones. Gallstones are created when the bile secreted by the liver does not contain enough water. Drinking plenty of water will keep these two organs working with ease.

8) Weight Loss
Although there is a difference of opinion by some experts regarding drinking water before meals, the general consensus is that drinking some water before a meal will cause you to feel more full, thereby helping you eat less at each meal. Drinking water will also give you more energy to do a little extra exercise too.

9) Germs be gone
Water isn't just for the inside of the body. The best way to rid the germs lurking on your hands is a good soap and water washing. Fewer germs mean less sickness and disease.

10) Makes you smarter
The brain is one of the most vulnerable parts of the body that is highly affected when we are not consuming enough water. Water will help you be able to focus, concentrate, and complete tasks more efficiently.

Have you ever stopped to think about how much water you drink in a day? Is it enough to accomplish the important tasks your body has that requires adequate water to effectively hit the mark? Drinking water only when your feel thirsty is not a good way to judge whether or not you are drinking enough water.

The fact of the matter is, by the time your brain signals your body to trigger a thirst response, you have already gone into slight dehydration. By remembering to drink at least 64 ounces of clean, fresh water every day, you will be in a great place to help fight the many signs of aging, increase your energy level and help stave off certain illnesses as well.

Do-It-Yourself (DIY) Weight Loss Plan

Do you want to lose weight? If you do, you may have already heard about how nice it is to create or develop your own weight loss plan.
These plans have been a great help for many individuals to succeed in their weight loss goals.
Although there are a lot of options when it comes to your weight loss plans such as joining a local or online weight loss program or buying a ready-made plan, a lot of people still prefer creating their own personalized DIY weight loss plans.

If this is your first time to develop your own plan for losing weight, you may not be confident as to how to go about it. If this is your case, then this article is for you because this article outlines the many components of a good weight loss plan.

Probably, healthy eating is the most important component of a good weight loss plan and is very important if you want to lose weight.
When you say healthy eating, you don't really have to get rid of junk foods like chocolates; however, you should control and limit your consumption.
If you think you're having a hard time eliminating junk foods from your diet, you may plan a schedule of eating these foods for yourself.
Your schedule could incorporate meals or perhaps days where you don't restrict yourself to have a good treat. Partly, this can be considered as a reward for a job well done.

Aside from generalizing your schedule, it is also a good idea to create your eating schedule more detailed. To start, you can research for healthy recipes from the Internet or you can also purchase a healthy eating cookbook from the local bookstore near toy.
Once you have a guide for the healthy foods to make or prepare, you can make a plan for all your meals.
Of course, you don't want to get bored or sick and tired with the foods you will be eating so it's a good idea to add a little spice and incorporate different varieties of healthy food in your DIY weight loss plan.

Regular exercise is another important component to incorporate in your DIY plan. Like planning a schedule for healthy eating, you should also create a schedule for your exercise and workout.

When adding exercise or workout in your exercise plan, you can choose from plenty of options.
For example, you can join a local gym near you or purchase an exercise DVD for home use or a piece of exercise equipment. If you don't want to spend on these, you can try walking instead.

If you have decided to come up with a DIY exercise plan, you may be missing something - support! If you decide to join either a local or online weight loss program, it is expected that you will be a part of a group or team, with members giving support to each other.

You should be aware that with a DIY exercise plan, you cannot have the same support. With this in mind, you may consider meeting with your family members, friends, co-workers, colleagues, or neighbors and ask them or offer them to be your exercise buddy.

Having an exercise buddy is a great way to get the support you need. Your buddy can also be a motivating factor for you to do your best and push through with the plan.

When developing a DIY weight loss plan, it is a good idea to write everything. You can also use your computer and take advantage of the computer programs to make your schedule readable and easier to understand.
Writing everything ensures that you will not forget anything from your DIY weight loss plan. You can also post the schedule in areas in your home that you will always see.
 One example is the refrigerator.
In simple term, weight loss plans are your guide and your motivator.

The points given above are just some of the points that you should always remember, especially when you are developing your own weight loss plan.

Weight Loss - A Self Help Project

Weight loss as a self help or self improvement project. The thought process is between the two are very similar. A person decides that something needs to be changed, identifies the reason for the change and finds a way to make the change.

The reason for the change is usually the driving force that determines the level of commitment to achieving the change. It doesn't matter whether the change is weight loss or any other type of self improvement.
If a person is not committed to the project and does not follow a program to achieve his or her goals, any gain will be short lived.

So, what do you need to do if you are thinking about a weight loss program?

1. Think about the reason you believe you need to lose weight. There are as many reasons as there are people in weight loss programs.

It could be a cosmetic reason (you want to look better on the beach) or health reason (you need to try to control your blood pressure or reduce your chloestorol). There has to be a reason that makes you willing to work for a long-lasting change.

2. Realize that permanent weight loss requires some king of lifestyle change. At a minimum, you may have to change your diet and/or eating habits.

You can't expect permanent loss if you use a program to achieve your weight loss goals and then go back to your old habits. Your old habits are what got you here in the first place. Keep the new habits that helped you get the benefits you wanted.

3. Establish some kind of plan. Your goals may be reached with a change in your diet or eating habits. Many times, it is not what you eat, but how much you eat that makes a difference in the amount of weight you carry around. The old saying "You are what you eat" has some bearing on your weight.

If your weight loss is more significant, you may have to include some kind of exercise in your program. The metabolism must be changed to achieve real and permanent weight loss.

If you want to make significant changes in your appearance, you should consult with your doctor and find out if there are any underlying medical conditions that would change the plan.

Weight loss is a billion dollar business. There are many, many commercial plans available and many websites that are devoted to helping people lose weight.
You can't watch television without seeing some celebrity pushing this plan or that plan.

They all encourage a lifestyle change in habits and they all work. They all include diet (sometimes you have to buy the food from the plan) and they should include some form of exercise to strengthen and tone the muscles. You can't get six-pack abs just by dieting.
It takes hard and consistent work. If you can afford a commercial program, this might be the way to go.

4. Set some goals. An end result goal is great, but you should set some weekly or monthly goals that show progress toward your ultimate goal. Without visible progress, you will get discouraged and it will be hard to stay focused on your weight loss program. The goals don't always have to be a number of pounds lost.

You might try using something more visible, such as losing a dress size, getting into a pair of jeans as your short term or long term goal.

You might try to stay on the stationary bike ten minutes longer or climb two flights of stairs without getting winded as a goal. The point is you have to have something that shows that you are making progress.

5. Figure out how you are going to achieve your goals. You might need to find a place to get some guidance and help in your weight loss program.

The YMCA/YWCA usually have equipment available for a small nominal fee. There are lots of commercial gyms available that have equipment and instructors that can help you set up a plan.

My greatest success came through a weight training class at a community college. In fact, it was so successful that I took it three quarters in a row.
Where you get the help is not as important as consistency.

6. Get some support. Self improvement and weight loss results are sometimes easier to get if other people are helping and encouraging you along the way. Most people start and try to stay on a diet alone. Sometimes it works, but usually the diet goes quietly by the wayside.

All the commercial programs have a system in place that provides support and encouragement that is needed to achieve permanent changes.

Your support group should include your family, friends and co-workers.

These groups have more daily contact with you and will have a direct or indirect influence on your success.

Weight loss is always a self-improvement project. To lose weight permanently, changes diet and lifestyle have to be made. Old habits have to be dropped and new habits formed. There is no other way.

If you've read this far down this article, you must have some interest in the subject. Don't give up, go at it carefully, avoid crash diets and find a way to lose weight permanently.

Marshall Crum has been a safety professional for almost half of his life.
He has been interested in self improvement for a long time and has studied self improvement information from some of the masters such as Napolean Hill, Zig Ziglar and Wallace D. Wattles. He enjoys writing articles about health and safety issues and other subjects that interest him. His website at Weight Loss Diet Tips 101 is devoted to what he considers a difficult self improvement project, successful and permanent weight loss.

Effective Weight Loss Foods

In my last article I talked about what I think are the seven key components to successfully losing weight and keeping it off.

I mentioned in that article that I would expand on the food aspects in a future article and that is what I am going to do now.

This article talks about clean unrefined foods and foods that are good choices towards a healthy lifestyle.

The opinions expressed in this article are my opinions only and based on my own experiences with clients, friends and of course myself.

Each meal should consist of protein, carbohydrates and fats. I am a firm believer in eating food the way nature intended it so the more whole the better.

The quantity and ratio of protein, carbohydrate and fats that you would eat is individual to the person.

It is dependent on many factors which are too in depth for this article. This article is a basic guideline for the types of foods that are clean and healthy.

I suggest eating a small meal every 2 to 3 hours. Keep in mind that if this is new to you then it will take some getting used to and it will not happen overnight. The key is to be patient and consistent.

Protein -  There are many delicious sources of lean and clean protein. Below are some excellent protein sources:
  • Chicken breast
  • Turkey breast
  • Fish Eggs (egg whites)
  • Whey Protein powder -  no added sweetner
Carbohydrates -  Complex carbohydrates are your best choice. Try to avoid anything that has been processed or refined like white flour. Excellent complex carbohydrate choices include:
  • Oatmeal
  • Sprouted grain bread
  • Whole wheat pasta
  • Brown rice
  • Yams
  • Sweet potatoes
  • Beans
  • Green leafy vegetables
Vegetables should be an essential part of your daily food intake.

I try to eat a lot of vegetables in my diet and consider most vegetables to be "free" carbohydrates.

I do not eat starchy (complex) carbohydrates at every meal because they tend to be high in calories but I always load up on vegetables and add a serving of fruit to most of my meals.

Fruits and vegetables have so many amazing benefits to your health and well being. Fruit is also great for keeping a sugar craving at bay.

Fats - Healthy fats have so many health benefits and eating good fats does not make you fat. The culprit there is too many calories whether it is protein, carbohydrates or fats. I like to eat my salads and vegetables with some fats because many of the vitamins in vegetables are fat soluble. That means it requires fat to be absorbed. Below are some sources of healthy fats:
  • Fish
  • Fish oil supplements
  • Nuts and seeds
  • Olive oil
  • Flax seed oil
These kinds of foods will do wanders for your health and your well being.
You will feel good, look good and just glow with wellness. If you eat to live rather than live to eat then your body will naturally reflect this.

Top 6 Weight Loss Friendly Snacks

"I am trying to lose weight but I can't keep my hands off of candies!", "My sweet tooth always gets the best of me!", "Sodas are my weakness", "I cannot stop munching crisps!".

No more excuses.
All too often, people fail to stick to their diet plans and eventually give in to their cravings.

It's okay, we are only human! However, your sweet tooth can still be trained to be satisfied by the sweet taste of an apple or another fruit - even though we both know that anything that comes close to REALLY satisfying your sweet tooth isn't going to be the epitome of a healthy meal, you eventually get used to it.

With a healthy snack, you can have all the snack-time you want, minus the calories and the resultant flab. It may seem like the end of the world, but it's all in your head, believe it or not.

All it takes is persistence, consistence, patience and perseverance (asking for a little much, aren't we?) well, you know what they say; no pain no gain! But rest assured, the pain is temporary, and before you know it, you will start to warm up to it. It is, after all, worth it.

Know that anything that will hamper your weight loss regime is FORBIDDEN, because it's a deep, dark pit. Once you fall in, there is no coming back (sorry for being so dramatic, but you'll thank me later). Anyway, let me cut straight to the chase; here's a list of weight loss friendly snacks to help you get through the day without feeling guilty:
  1. Grapes and walnuts - The ultimate, power-packed combo of fiber, protein, and sugars (the good kind) and healthy fats. Once you start snacking on a cup of grapes and a handful of nuts, there is no stopping; and the only thing you will gain is ENERGY!
  2. Oatmeal and blueberries- For those who find oatmeal boring and bland tasting, adding a kick of blueberries to a bowl of fiber rich oatmeal can do wonders for the taste buds, as well as the waist!
  3. Apple with... cheese?- That's right! Apples are celebrated for helping in preventing weight gain! Pairing a little bit of apple with a little bit of cheddar cheese makes the perfect sweet 'n' sour combo for you to snack on.
  4. Almonds- Good ol' almonds; aside from making one sharp, they help in weight loss as well. Chewing almonds thoroughly throughout the day makes one feel full and hence, prevents them from consuming too many calories.
  5. Grapefruit- Hands down, ALL fruits make for better, healthier snacks. Grapefruit, for one, has been rightly dubbed as "diet food". Grapefruit works by lowering insulin levels and as a result, managing appetite. A study found that when people ate grapefruit with each meal, they lost up to 3 and a half pounds over the course of just 3 months! Moreover, - grapefruit is beneficial in any and all forms; grapefruit juice, grapefruit smoothies etc. Be creative!
  6. Greek yogurt with raspberries and honey- It comes as no surprise that fruit plus dairy equals zesty, rich and delicious! This sweet and creamy trio is just what you need to satisfy your sweet tooth whilst also pacifying the growling monster your stomach turns into, at some time of the day. This snack is loaded with fiber, protein and fats (the healthy kind) as well as the ever so essential Vitamin C, which increases the body's fat burning abilities.
Psst. No more hiding in corners and snacking on unhealthy food. With these healthy and nutritious snacks, munch your way to a smaller waist!

Original Fat Loss Tips

The joy of dieting and losing weight is stuffed with tips and advice. Several these hints in perfect shape and you ought to follow, some aren't really it might even be dangerous and should really be ignored.

Even with all the current losing weight information available lots of folks still make sure to starve themselves thin or run around in bin bags to suffer weight.

Although these individuals might shed the extra pounds from the very short-term you won't stay off, the extra weight they lose will undoubtedly be such as muscle.

Once they finish the food they'll probably get fatter because once they stop they'll settle for eating rubbish with less muscle than they'd before.

Muscle helps shed fat, therefore, the less muscle you have the fatter you in turn become!

The sustainable way to continue fat off permanently is to switch your true self and dwell in a better way, eat less and employ more. Below a couple of tips to assist you to shed extra pounds in a nutritious and sustainable way, they both involve eating.

Eat Low GI Carbs
Low GI Diets generally are a healthy way to burn fat, carbohydrate will probably be your bodies preferred origin of fuel a great deal of convenience food like cakes, white chocolate, bread and coca cola contain sugary carbohydrate these "simple carbs" forces you to fat very fast.

Cutting down on calories containing too most of these "simple carbs" won't be able to only allow you to fat, but probably make you feel very tired and lethargic, foods rich in low GI carbohydrate release their energy slowly since it keeps your energy levels stable and is not stored in the human body as fat.

Low GI foods include brown rice, whole-meal pasta and bread.

Eat Fat
Many individuals feel that eating fatty foods probably will make them fat so that they be sure to avoid it and work out of their diet all together.
Only a few fat isn't good saturated fat is harmful you, monounsaturated fat can help reduce your cholesterol and your risk of heart disease, eating these good fats can even help you lose excess weight and weight. Some categories of food that often contain good fats are nuts, essential olive oil and oily fish like trout or mackerel.

How to lose weight in 2 weeks

If you're wondering how to lose weight in 2 weeks I've both good news and bad news for you.

On the good thing, front, it is possible to lose weight in the period and I've managed up to 7lbs of weight lost in a single 7 day period (though the doctors would question how safe this degree of weight loss was). On the downside, to actually make those 2 weeks count you're likely to need to do everything 100% right. No sneaky days off or food-related treats - you'll need to ensure each thing you do leads you nearer to your goal of losing weight.

So with the preamble out of the way, how exactly are we going to have you to reduce the most level of weight in just 2 weeks? My very own experience implies that for a brief term goal similar to this, vast levels of exercise and a nearly cub-free diet would be the approaches to go.

Personally, I tried the Atkins Diet and which was what led me to reduce that huge amount of weight, though I found the weight reduction, reduced considerably over the next weeks so don't consider this a long term plan.
However, other pretty-much carb free diets just like the South Beach Diet are probably be just as helpful.
The carbohydrate free diet will involve living on items such as eggs, milk, meat and vegetables.

At least during the initial introductory phase, there is no fruit, no cereal, no bread, no potatoes and so on so that it can be quite a surprise to the machine to quit your "normal" foods. All things considered, what could be much more "normal" than simply grabbing a sandwich, or a bowl of cereal or some pasta? Suddenly they're all off limits.

Also, be aware that as a result of this huge nutritional shift, many people will find at the very least for the first couple of days that their energy drop or which they get downright irritable. This, as I say, is normal and will probably pass within 2-3 days.

Also, appreciate that fluids are likely to be supplied by water mainly, with perhaps a sugar and milk-free tea or coffee which is often an experience in itself.

I know found the Atkins Diet took a lot to getting used to, however, when I started to regulate it absolutely was quite enjoyable. Who would complain at eating eggs and bacon for breakfast and still dropping a complete pound of weight that day?!

Another factor needless to say is exercise - and wanting to burn off as much fat as possible.
In this regard, put aside at least one hour per day to go running, walking, cycling - anything, in fact - provided that it makes you sweat. You want to get puffed out and feel your heart thumping to discover the best result. One more tip that will get this period of exercise more achievable is to split your session into 2 or even more segments.

Then here is another different exercise in each section, and take a break in between.

A good example could possibly be walking quickly for 20 minutes, followed by a 5 minute break. Then 20 minutes on the treadmill jogging. Then another quick break for 2 or 3 minutes, and finally a 20 minute swim.
Job done, and without killing yourself!

Follow these steps and you'll rapidly lose weight in the next 2 weeks.

Weight Loss Hypnosis - Myth Or Miracle?

In recent years, weight loss hypnosis has been making waves in the multi-million dollar weight loss industry, advertising itself as the revolutionary way to help people lose weight and keep their unwanted pounds off.

These campaigns has stirred people from famous movie stars to the average housewife using hypnosis for weight loss techniques to aid their weight loss and keep their figures.

However, like all new trends in weight loss, is weight loss with hypnosis an over hyped myth that does not really work like advertised or is it truly the miracle that people have been waiting for?

No matter what the advertisements says about how new weight loss hypnosis is, the fact is, these methods have existed for many years.

These same techniques that are taught in hypnosis for weight loss programs are also used to treat other problems in individuals like smoking, pain control, anxiety disorders and of course, weight loss.

Techniques used in weight loss hypnosis by many qualified weight loss hypnosis therapist are derived from the established and proven techniques of hypnosis like anchoring and association.

To many people, the word hypnosis always elicits images of people doing silly antics under the instructions of a stage hypnotist.

Due to this portrayal of hypnosis, people have been slow to pick up hypnosis for weight loss techniques or approach a qualified weight loss hypnosis therapist for their weight management goals.

Although the stage hypnotist uses some of the techniques of hypnosis, a proper hypnosis program for weight loss is unlike a variety hypnosis television program.

During a weight loss hypnosis program, a qualified weight loss hypnosis therapist will first understand what are your goals that you have for yourself.

He or she will go through with you what is the current state that you are in, what are food and eating behaviors that you have now and where you want to be after finishing the program. This stage is important because it establishes goals that you agree to and am confident of achieving.

This is crucial because contrary to common belief, hypnosis cannot work if deep down, you don't believe you can do it or you don't want to do it. Hence, by working out a weight loss goal that you are comfortable with, you subconsciously become more accepting to the goal.

The next step would be to induce you into a deeply relaxed state. It is at this state where the hypnotherapist provides you suggestions for healthier food choices and motivational phrases to aid you in losing weight.

These suggestions are directed to your subconscious mind. Why to the subconscious mind ? Your subconscious mind is the powerhouse portion of your brain.

It controls your feelings, emotions, behaviors and habits.
By attaching these suggestions to your subconscious mind, your behaviors and feelings towards food and exercise changes.

Many people have reported that after going through hypnosis for weight loss programs, they do not eat as much as before because they feel fuller longer and faster after a small meal.

Besides providing you with suggestions that promote better eating and exercise, a qualified weight loss hypnosis therapist will also involve you to set up a plan for yourself.

Goal setting techniques will be taught so you will know exactly what to aim for, how to go about achieving your goals and how to review your progress.

Seeing progress throughout your weight loss hypnosis program will form a positive feedback loop and further drives you to stay on course to reach the weight loss goals that you have set for yourself.

Hence, weight loss hypnosis is real and is already helping people from all walks of live attain their weight loss goals and giving them back control of their lives by giving them a fast and easy way to get their desired level of health.

Lose Weight Using Apple Cider Vinegar

Lets face it, there are many pills and potions out there for losing weight.

Many people try different products to lose weight out of desperation. Not only most of those products don't work, they, in many cases, contribute to weight gain.

They're just there because people are looking for a way to put their weight under control and would try anything.

So marketers propose and people dispose!

However, study shows that the best way to put weight under control is to eat or drink certain foods, before, during and after meals. One of those foods in apple cider vinegar.

Apple cider vinegar according to Dr. Earl Mindell, R.PH., PHD, can help regulate blood pressure, fight infection, relieve arthritis, promote good digestion, improve metabolism, flush the gall bladder, regulate body weight and much more. Vinegar has a 10,000 year history as both food and medicine.

I use it regularly for heart burn by taking two tea spoon of it before each meal. If I do not have access to it when I am out and eating something, and later experience any heart burn, then I take it as the heart burn develops, and bam, the heart burn is gone. Amazing!

I use to take all these over the counter medications that had side effects, but ever since I discovered apple cider vinegar, no more medication.

It is advisable to intake organic apple cider vinegar for maximum effect.

This can equally be effective for weight loss as apple cider vinegar regulates the body weight, promotes good digestion, flushes the gall bladder efficiently and consequently makes fat burning so much easier.

This is a logical and sensible way to put your body weight under control, and the more interesting thing is that vinegar is not the only food that does that.

Easy Tips For Natural Weight Loss After Having a Baby

Now that your baby is here after nine long months of anxiously awaiting her arrival, you are probably looking forward to getting back into shape and shedding excess "baby" weight.

Although fitting into your pre-pregnancy clothes may be at the forefront of your mind, medical experts recommend that you ease into a weight loss program after delivery.

Depending on your health care provider, he or she may advise waiting anywhere between 6 weeks to 3 months after giving birth.

Promoting Weight Loss with Herbs and Herbal Supplements
Aside from diet and exercise, you may also be considering other methods of natural weight loss after having a baby. The use of natural herbs to promote weight loss has gained popularity in recent years.

There are a plethora of herbs and herbal supplements currently on the market that are touted to help people lose weight. Just a few of these include green tea, cayenne, seaweed and Hoodia Gordonii.

Cayenne is purported to speed up metabolism and aid in digestion; green tea is rich in Vitamin C and antioxidants and works similar to coffee by suppressing the appetite; Hoodia Gordonii, a southern African cactus native to the Kalahari Desert, is believed to be a highly effective appetite suppressant; and minerals in seaweed like iodine and chromium are believed to promote safe weight loss.

It should be noted that not all herbs and herbal supplements are created equal. A particular herb's weight loss potency and effectiveness will depend on such factors as growing conditions and the way it was harvested and preserved.

Additionally, just because herbs are natural does not necessarily indicate that they are safe.

Certain herbs contain elements that may cause potentially harmful side effects that may be detrimental to those with serious medical conditions.

Before taking any weight loss supplement, research it thoroughly first.

If you have a chronic medical condition or are breastfeeding, it is strongly advised that you speak with your health care provider before taking a particular herbal supplement.

Diet and Exercise: Key to Healthy Weight Loss After Pregnancy
Although natural weight loss after having a baby in the form of herbal supplements may sound like an easy solution to shedding those unwanted "baby" pounds, it should not take the place of eating a sensible diet and exercising.

For good health, it is recommended that you consume between 1,800 to 2,200 calories daily. However, many herbal weight loss supplements work as appetite suppressants.

If taking herbs to help you lose weight, make certain that you consume the recommended number of calories from the four major food groups to ensure optimum health.

To lose those excess pounds you gained during pregnancy, you must burn more calories then you consume daily. One tried and true method to burn fat and calories is to exercise.

When beginning a workout program, start with low aerobic activities and work your way up to moderate exercises as you build strength and stamina.

To shed the additional pounds you gained during pregnancy you must eat a sensible diet and exercise regularly. This will not only ensure that you lose the weight, but keep it off.

Why Weight Loss Diets Fail

There doesn't seem to be a law that a new year must be accompanied by feelings of weight-guilt, but January/February dismay seems to be pretty universal.

Every year, year in and year out, a new year reminds us it's time to suffer, feel guilty or both. And so we join in this annual ritual of self-abuse.

But let me ask you this: The struggle and strain to lose weight has been going on every year for centuries. After all those years of effort, shouldn't we be winning?

I mean, an avalanche of all the diet books in print would flatten a smallish city. But all that information, even if strictly applied, will provide--at best--no more than temporary success.

For instance, The Biggest Loser television show flogged competitors through almost superhuman efforts to lose weight.
The motivated contestants did whatever they were told to do to reach the magical goal of slim and trim.

After they reach the promised land, after all that training, effort and suffering, you'd think contestants would be good to go for the rest of their lives. But you would be wrong. By about a mile.

You never see reunions of Biggest Loser alums. Most, if not all, the alums regained the weight they lost, and sometimes even more.

Why does the weight always come back? Because all the weight-loss hoopla, so heavily promoted by dietitians and doctors as a sure path to skinny-jeans heaven, throws our bodies into a very deep ditch of wounded body parts unable to figure out which way is up.

Our bodies know if they don't step in to save the day, as in getting everything back into balance, we're going down. Disease, even death, await.

So, an all-body call-to-arms goes out, and body parts join the battle, coordinating their efforts in a big-time push to get everything back on track. And the lost pounds come piling back. Why?

Here's how it goes: By taking the usual, count-calories, etc., approach to weight loss, you dumped muscle, not fat. Since life depends on healthy muscles, such as the heart, your body works overtime to recover lost muscle. And you're back where you started.

But, but, but, you cry in dismay, does that mean I'll never be able to lose weight and keep it off?
Not at all. That's actually pretty easy-peasy stuff. I cover the whole business in my Moving to Health program.

Well, you may counter, if it's so easy, why don't you just tell us? And you ask because everybody's been brainwashed into believing health and weight loss are about magic bullets, not about understanding what's going on. All I have to offer is understanding, so work with me here.

Losing weight is not rocket science, but getting people to change their understanding of how it works is a killer. That's nobody's fault; it's just the way things are.

The weight loss industry rakes in billions and billions of dollars a year, and they don't look kindly on anybody who talks the way I do. They keep machetes always at the ready, the better to protect their mountain of money.

I don't want to start a fight with a whole gang of bullies, which is scary. But I do want to help people; I just have to wait for them to realize they need my help.

Here's how it goes:
We are all unique, one-of-a-kind beings. One-size-fits-all diets don't work for unique people. So talk about losing weight must take the unique wonder of us into account; a quick ten-point list doesn't come close.

But I can give you two basic truths that will probably contradict everything you've been taught: Counting calories doesn't get you anywhere, and you have to eat fat to lose fat.
I kid you not.
